Radon Mitigation in Independence, MO 64052
Challenge
The homeowner faced elevated radon levels entering the home through multiple points, including cracks in the concrete slab and the sump pit, creating a serious health concern. The home’s layout required a system that could effectively manage airflow from these various entry points while maintaining efficiency. Additionally, the homeowner wanted a long-term solution that minimized noise from the radon fan and would continue performing reliably over time. Designing a mitigation system that balanced performance, durability, and minimal disruption posed a unique challenge for the installation team. Ensuring proper placement of extraction points and sealing vulnerable areas without compromising the home’s structure added another layer of complexity.
Solution
Green Factor Insulation addressed the challenge by conducting a full assessment and performing pressure field extension testing to determine the optimal system design. Cracks in the concrete slab were carefully sealed, and an additional extraction point was added to improve airflow and ensure thorough radon removal. A premium radon fan with a moisture guard and system muffler was installed to maximize efficiency while keeping operational noise low. The sump pit was sealed with a dome cover to block radon entry from below, and the team provided a 3rd-party test kit to verify post-installation performance. This comprehensive approach ensured the home was fully protected from radon, offering a reliable, long-term solution for the family’s safety.
